Counseling for Adolescents

Lindsay has spent a large portion of her career working with adolescents to help motivate and guide them toward a better version of themselves. She aims to help improve communication patterns and works to increase positive interactions between parents and teens.

Parents often say they struggle with introducing their teen to counseling, and many find it difficult to get their teen to open up during sessions. Lindsay is skilled at connecting with adolescents, and creates a trusting and accepting environment where teens typically feel safe to discuss things they may not otherwise wish to talk about. Lindsay treats all teens with respect, and works to genuinely understand the reasons behind an adolescent’s maladaptive behaviors.

The teenage years can be challenging even with a happy, healthy teen; so if a teen is struggling with strong emotions, troublesome behaviors or other concerns, it can make life for parents confusing and, at times, downright frustrating. There is hope, and there is help.

Lindsay has experience addressing and treating the following concerns, among others:

•   Stress and anxiety
•   Depression and mood swings
•   Substance use and addiction*
•   Deficiencies in anger management
•   Poor school performance or truancy
•   Eating disorders*
•   Self-harm and suicidal behavior*
•   Grief
•   LGBTQ-related concerns, including evaluation for hormone therapy
•   Trauma and post-traumatic stress
•   Low self-esteem or body image concerns
